James Lobsenz Receives William O. Douglas Award for Distinguished Career in Criminal Defense
James Lobsenz has been presented the 2009 William O. Douglas Award by the Washington Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. The award, WACDL's most prestigious honor, is given in "recognition of extraordinary courage and dedication to the practice of criminal law." Mr. Lobsenz received the honor together with Seattle attorney Peter Camiel on June 12 at the association's annual conference at Campbell's Resort in Chelan, Washington. Additional information on a career that Lobsenz colleague Todd Maybrown characterized as a "tireless advocacy for those who are most in need of counsel" can be found here.
Mr. Lobsenz has long been recognized by his peers for his achievements in the legal profession. He has been named a Washington state Super Lawyer by Washington Law and Politics magazine consistently for over a decade, and a Top Lawyer by Seattle Magazine. Avvo has given Mr. Lobsenz its very highest rating.

"The criminal justice system is
not perfect by any means. Mistakes are made
and innocent people are wrongfully convicted.
Trial judges make serious errors, and
prosecutors and police sometimes engage in unfair
and illegal conduct in a misguided zealous effort
to punish the bad guy.”
